Who We Are
AdHoc Studio is a diverse team of video game developers driven by a pursuit of excellence in storytelling. Our DNA is made up of former employees of Telltale Games, Night School Studio and Ubisoft having written and directed such games as Tales From the Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, and Minecraft: Story Mode. We draw inspiration from all forms of media and pride ourselves on our distinctive approach to interactive narrative in games. Our goal is to create resonant experiences that put the player in charge of the story, giving them agency where most games take it away. Our first original title Dispatch was released in 2025.
About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Artist who is able to focus on hands-on UI implementation in Unreal Engine while working alongside UI artists and other stakeholders. Ideal candidates must be comfortable using layout elements and UI materials to make UI, have experience animating UI materials, and thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Implement UI and HUD features in Unreal, as guided by design specs, wireframes, and prototypes.
Said features must be interactive, responsive, and performant in-game.
Ensure that said features display properly on different devices and resolutions.
Collaborate closely with Engineers and UI Artists to ensure work aligns with both the creative vision and technical constraints.
Help define and apply best practices for scalable, modular, and maintainable UI architecture.
Create tools, whenever possible, to increase iteration speed for UI systems and architecture.
Create complex materials and real-time Unreal 5 shaders using HLSL.
Write, integrate, and test code as needed to implement UI features in-engine.
Iterate on interactive prototypes and designs based on playtest feedback, usability insights, and technical goals.
Work with QA and Production to track and resolve bugs, polish interactions, and meet performance targets from development to launch and beyond.
Champion UI consistency, accessibility, and usability across the product.
Required Experience:
3+ years of experience working on the technical implementation of UI/UX design within games or interactive media.
Must have shipped at least one full-cycle game project (console, PC, mobile).
Hands-on experience with UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics UI Designer).
A firm understanding of UI architecture, modular design patterns, and workflows.
Self-motivation and a good eye for UX flow, usability, and interaction feedback.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills-you enjoy working across disciplines to find the best solutions.
